Friendships ending is one of the most confusing grief experiences I know — because unlike romantic relationships, there is rarely a clear moment. No breakup conversation. No defined ending. Just a slow cooling.
And then you realise: you have not spoken in four months. The last three invites were declined. The replies are slower. Shorter.
So how do you decide?
Do you bring it up directly — "I feel like we have drifted, is everything okay?" Or does that feel like too much for something that has already naturally run its course?
I have let go of people I should have fought for. I have fought for people who were already gone. I have not figured this out yet.
Have you?
